Hi, I’m Dave – Executive Coach and Former Tech Leader

I'll never forget my first few months leading IT transformation in a large NHS hospital trust. I'd come in with significant management experience - I'd co-founded and scaled a successful business in financial services, led teams, navigated acquisitions. I thought I knew how to lead. But within weeks, I was struggling. The technical landscape was unfamiliar, the organizational complexity bewildering, and the cultural environment utterly different from anything I'd encountered in commercial insurance. What had worked brilliantly in one sector felt clumsy and tone-deaf in another. I had to strip back my assumptions, listen harder than I'd ever listened before, and rebuild my leadership approach from the ground up. 

That humbling experience taught me something crucial: great leadership isn't just about systems and strategy - it's about people, clarity, and composure when things get complex. And it's about the courage to adapt when your playbook no longer works. 

Those hard-won lessons shaped everything I now do at North Point Coaching, where I help IT professionals and senior leaders navigate the messy, human side of leadership - especially when they're stepping into unfamiliar territory. Real-World Leadership Experience

I’ve sat on both sides of the boardroom table.

As co-founder of Premierline, the UK’s first direct commercial insurance broker (now part of Allianz), I built and scaled a business through rapid growth and acquisition.

Later, in the senior IT leadership role within the NHS, I led major technology transformation across a high-pressure environment where precision and empathy mattered in equal measure.

Today, as a Non-Executive Director for a cybersecurity company, I stay closely connected to the challenges leaders face in a fast-evolving, high-stakes sector — from client retention and innovation to governance and growth.

That mix of start-up innovation, corporate scale, and board-level oversight gives me a grounded, cross-sector view of what it really takes to lead change and deliver results.
